First Ecclesiastical Society of East Haddam, Connecticut

First Church of  Christ, Congregational in East Haddam

Dear Friends:

Church Council has developed an outline of a proposed
Stewardship campaign that will run from April 7 – May 5. A letter will be sent
out to the church membership the first week of April. Karan Conover and Andrea
Pascal volunteered to stuff envelopes and purchase the postage. Linda Ryder-Munet
volunteered to be the speaker the week of April 21st, and Karan
Conover volunteered for April 28th.

The Board of Trustees reported that the family of Lee Cone
has made the Church a gift of $1000. At the suggestion of Pastoral Relations,
Trustees are recommending that $300 go to Pastor Robin. Since this gift represents
more than 1% of the Church’s operating budget, its allocation must go to the
Congregation for a vote. Council approved a MOTION to bring this gift to the
Congregation for a vote with the Trustees recommendation that $300 go to the
Pastor. The date for the Congregational Meeting will be April 14 after worship.

Council will begin weekly and monthly information updates to
the phone system.

The Pastoral Search Committee reported that a proposed draft
of the Church’s Profile has been presented, distributed and emailed to church
members for their review and comment. The Committee is thankful to church
members for the useful input. The Profile has now been finalized by the
Committee and sent to Rev. Penn-Strah for posting on the UCC website. The
Committee hopes to interview candidates for pastor in May.
