First Church seasonally operates the Loving Spoonful Snack Bar to provide a simple, nutritious weekly community meal service during the cold winter months. A wonderful variety of soups and chowders with sandwiches and baked goods are served for dine-in or take-out. Meals are served free of charge.
Coordinating with the schedules of both the East Haddam Food Bank located just across Town Street at Grange Hall and the East Haddam Clothing Bank located at the Orchard Road parking entrance to First Church, Loving Spoonful Snack Bar will reopen on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 and be open on Tuesdays from Noon-5:30PM through the end of March.
We look forward to seeing our friends and neighbors for some warm soup and a hearty snack. We’ll be located just inside the Orchard Road parking entrance of the church, adjacent to the Clothing Bank.
The immediate aftermath of First Church having to deal with its own multiple frozen pipes disaster during New Year’s week 2014, brought a new awareness to those in need of assistance in our community struggling to just make it through the brutal cold of New England winter.
